The Tim Brickley Big Band
Tim founded his 15-piece swingin’ Jazz Big Band in 2001, which features an outstanding assemblage of top musical talent. With a mix of classic Swing-Era Big Band instrumentals, and vocal selections ala Nat “King” Cole, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Harry Connick, Jr., this band is perfect for those big events looking for the “Wow Factor!”
Jay Harvey of the Indianapolis Star wrote that the Tim Brickley Big Band was one of the highlights of the Indy Jazz Fest, praising their "spirited and quirky resusscitations of classic Nelson Riddle arrangements."         
The roster of musical firepower has featured amazing jazz talents such as tenor saxes Richard Torres (Stan Kenton alum!) and Frank Glover, bandleader and trumpet great Mark Buselli, and the dynamic duo of Gene Markiewicz and Frank Smith on drums and bass!
 
Band history
 
After years of studying the great vocalists of the jazz and swing era (and loads of gigging with his Quintet), Tim was antique hunting with sister Catherine one fateful day in early 2001, and happened upon a big trunk marked "sheet music". What it really was? It was a treasure chest of complete, original Big Band scores from the 1940's! Boom - he's in the Big Band business! Not quite so fast. You gotta find the musicians. Well, heck, he already had those from years of performing with the Quintet. Check. Build the bandstands. We'll need one of those groovy intitial logos. Hmm, how about we scan and blow-up this cool "B" from a Tony Bennett ad in a vintage Downbeat magazine? Check. Have some rehearsals (lucky he has his own studio). Check. Find the first gig - at the fabled Indiana Roof Ballroom, no less - on the same stage swung by Glenn Miller, Cab Calloway and Tony Bennett! Check. Find the next gig. That's where you come in!
